1. What do you gather about Crocker-Harris from the play?

Ans. Crocker Horris, who taught Latin and classical Literature was a good teacher. He was a middle-aged man, a strict follower of rules and discipline. He was not like other ordinary masters. He never disobeyed rules by telling the students their remove before the given time. He was not a sadist. He never beats his students or gives them any grief without any reason. He was liked and respected by other students, in spite of his strictness. He also felts uncomfortable when he saw other students liked him and become much more strict than ever.

2. Does Frank seem to encourage Taplow’s comments on Crocker-Harris?

Ans. Frank was a young teacher who taught science. Like many of his colleagues, he too seemed to dislike Crocker-Harris. When he realised the bitterness of a student for Crocker-Harris, he encouraged him indirectly to speak against Crocker-Harris. He felt happy when the boy expressed dislike for his teacher. When Taplow imitated Crocker-Harris, frank pretended to dislike it and asked him to be quiet.

Frank encouraged Taplow to disobey his teacher by suggesting that as he was late, he should go off and play golf. When Taplow said that Crocker-Harris was not a sadist, Frank invite him and told him that exaggerating.

3. What is removed? What does Taplow think about it?

Ans. Remove is the result of the students and on that basis, students proceed to the next standard. Taplow thought that the extra work will affect his removal negatively. His removal would be decided by a very strict teacher. Taplow had decided that if the remove wild be in his favour then he would take science.

4. Write the character sketch of Taplow.

Ans. Taplow was an obedient student. He always respects his teacher Crocker-Harris. he pretends Crocker-Harris is an extraordinary teacher. Taplow and other students don’t like his behaviour but even then he liked him. When Frank encouraged him to go and playoff since his teacher was late but Taplow did not agree only because his teacher had called him.
