NOTICE: The last date to apply for this Special Scholarship Scheme is 31 November 2021 and Institute verification’s last date is 15 December 2021.

The Ministry of HRD and the University Grants Commission have initiated this scheme to promote higher education in the NER (North Eastern Region).

Objective:

The objective of the Ishan Uday scholarship is to provide equal opportunities for higher education NE Region. The main is to encourage children belonging to the economically weaker sections and to increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) of the NE Region.

Every year 10,000 fresh scholarships are awarded by UGC among NER students who are pursuing general degrees, technical and professional courses, including medical & paramedical courses.

Rewards:

Rs. 7,800/- per monthFor Technical/Medical/Professional/Paramedical Course
Rs. 5,400/- per monthFor General Degree Course

Note: For integrated degree courses, Scholarship is for the complete duration of the course & for dual degree courses scholarship is for the first-degree courses.

Eligibility:

  1. Students must have a domicile of North Eastern State which comprises Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, & Tripura.
  2. Annual Family Income should be less than ₹ 4.5Lakh per annum.
  3. Students should XII passed.
  4. Students should enrol in the 1 year of general degrees course or technical, professional, medical & paramedical courses.
  5. Transgenders are also eligible.
  6. Students should pursue degree courses from regular mode, not from distance & open mode.
  7. Not eligible for another government scholarship.
  8. Students gain admission through the management quota, and studying are not eligible.

  3. Income Certificate
  4. Aadhar Card

Application process:

Every year the notification of the Ishan Uday Scholarship scheme publish on the NSP of govt of India and a short notification will also be uploaded on the UGC website.

  1. First of all, you need to fresh register on National Scholarship Portal by filling personal information.
  2. After registration, login ID and password generated login and fill personal and academic details, scholarship details, contact details, scheme details and then upload documents,
  3. After review click on final submit.
  4. For Renewal, maintain prescribed attendance, marks for availing scholarship.

Selection Process

10,000 fresh scholarships will be awarded every year.

Distribution of slots amongst the states of NER will be done on the basis of population
census.

If slots in a particular state remain vacant due to the non-availability of eligible candidates,
the unfilled slots will be distributed equitably amongst other states.
