NEET 2020 Counselling Process

NEET 2020 Counselling scheduled has not been released yet, but it is expected to begin from 6 October 2020. Candidates can visit our website or the official website regularly to get the latest updates on counselling schedule.

Who is Eligible for NEET 2020 Counselling?

  • Only those Candidates who will qualify the NEET 2020 as per required cut-offs, will be eligible to apply for NEET 2020 counselling.
  • Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 50% (40% for SC/ ST/ OBC and 45% for general-physically handicapped) in NEET 2020 will be considered qualified in the exam.
  • The ministry releases a list of qualified candidates under AIQ (All India Quota), excluding candidates from Jammu and Kashmir to take part in 15% AIQ Counselling.
  • Candidates must have to register themselves on the MCC website to become eligible for the counselling process. 

Quick Facts

  • This year, the number of seats has been increased from 4064 to 4591, as the number of medical colleges participating in AIQ counselling has been increased to 235, which was 193 last year.
  • This year, admissions to AIIMS, JIPMER, AYUSH courses, and other private universities will be provided through NEET counselling only.
  • Now, it is also mandatory to appear for NEET exams for students who want to do MBBS from abroad.

Seats

Around 16 lakh candidates applied for the NEET exam this year, out of which only 85-90% of candidates appeared at the exam centres. The seats available for various courses are as follows-

NEET 2020 Counselling process

MCI conducts the counselling to fill 15% All India Quota Seats in two rounds followed by a mop-up round. 85% of seats are filled by State Counselling in various rounds.

The steps involved in NEET Counselling are as follows:

STEP-1

Generating Roll Number and Password for Registration

  • Visit the official website of MCC and click on ‘New Registration’ to begin the process.
  • It will ask you to enter your NEET Roll Number, Application Number, Candidate name, Mother Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number, Email ID and Security Pin as per your admit card.
  • After entering all the information, a new Roll Number and Password will be provided to you, which you have to use for your further counselling process.

STEP-2

Registration for Counselling

  • Now again visit the login page of MCC and click on ‘Candidate Login‘.
  • Enter your Roll Number and Password that you have created in STEP-1.
  • You will be redirected to a new page where you have to enter details like your Name, Roll No., Registration No., Mother’s Name, Contact No., etc. Click on ‘Submit’ when you are done.
  • A new page will open where you can see all your details as per the NTA database. Verify the information and click on ‘Confirm Registration
  • A Registration Slip will be generated. Candidates are advised to save this page or print this as a hard copy for future reference.

STEP-3

Counselling Fee Payment

  • After successfully registering for Counselling, candidates have to submit refundable and non-refundable NEET 2020 counselling fee. The fee can be paid through an online medium like Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking. The NEET counselling fee for 2020 are as follows-
  1. Non- Refundable Fees (Registration Fees)
  • For Un-Reserved Candidates, Non-Refundable Registration Fees for 15% AIQ/ Central University is INR 1,000 and INR 5,000 for Deemed Universities.
  • For SC/ST/OBC/PwD Candidates, Non-Refundable Registration Fees for 15% AIQ/ Central University is INR 500 and INR 5,000 for Deemed Universities.
  1. Refundable Fees (Tuition Fees)
  • For Un-Reserved Candidates, the Refundable Tuition Fees for 15% AIQ/ Central University is INR 10,000 and INR 2,00,000 for Deemed Universities.
  • For SC/ST/OBC/PwD Candidates, the Refundable Tuition Fees for 15% AIQ/ Central University is INR 5,000 and INR 2,00,000 for Deemed Universities.

STEP-4

Choice Locking

  • In this step, candidates are required to submit their preferences, keeping in mind your NEET scores.
  • You can view the list of colleges available and can fill as many choices as you want.
  • Candidates can arrange their choices in order of their preference by moving them up or down, interchange choices, and delete choices within the given time limit.
  • After entering your choice carefully, enter your password and click on ‘Lock Choices’. You will not be allowed to make any changes after locking your choices.
  • After locking, they can take a printout of the locked choices which will include locking date and time, IP Address of the computer, and system-generated Unique number.

STEP-5

Release of Seat Allotment

The seat allotment results are declared by MCC after each round of counselling. If their name is listed in the results, candidates have to report at the allotted colleges with the allotment letter and other documents to finish the admission process.

STEP-6

Round 2 Counselling

If Candidates fail to secure a seat in Round 1 Counselling, they can appear for the Round 2 Counselling on the given date and must follow the same steps as mentioned above.

Counselling for 15% All India Quota

  • The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India holds the Counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats.
  • All deemed, central, state universities will participate in online counselling and seats of ESIC and AFMC, BHU & AMU will also be filled in AIQ counselling.
  • Seats left vacant after 2 rounds of Counselling will be adjusted in the mop-up round.
  • Candidates who take part in AIQ Counselling can also participate in State Counselling of their respective states.

Counselling for 85% State Quota Seats

  • For State quota and other private colleges Counselling, candidates may apply to their domicile states, and a merit list as per State rules and seats will be allotted based on All India Rank prepared by concerned Counselling Authorities.
  • Candidates need to register on their concerned state’s counselling website for Counselling.
  • Admissions to colleges in states J&K, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will be done on the basis of state counselling.
  • Counselling will be conducted on the basis of the candidate’s rank in the state merit list. States will prepare the merit list on the basis of All India Ranks, considering the category of the candidates.

  • Class X Certificate and Marksheet
  • Class XII Certificate and Marksheet
  • 8 passport sized photographs (Same as the one affixed on the application form)
  • NEET Seat Allotment letter
  • Proof of Identity (Aadhar card/PAN card/Passport/ Driving License)
  • Category Certificate (if applicable)
