JEE Mains exam is a national level entrance exam. JEE main was initially conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) till 2018. But from 2019 onwards, JEE Mains is conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency) for B.Tech, BE, B.Arch, etc. The JEE mains new exam pattern for 2020 has been released by NTA. Before 2019, JEE Main was conducted once in a year by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education). Since 2019, NTA conducted the JEE Main exam twice in a year – January and April. The first round of the jee main 2020 will be conducted from 6 to 11 January for the paper I (for BE/B.Tech), paper II ( B.Arch) and paper III (B.Planning). The second round of jee mains 2020 is scheduled to be held from 3 to 9 April for the paper I, II, III. Now, the candidates are not required to give an exam twice a year, they can also appear for the exam once in a year. If the candidate attempts both which is held twice a year then the candidate will be selected on the basis of the best of two exams. So the student has the option to give once or twice the exam.

JEE mains – Paper 1 for BE/B.Tech.

SUBJECTS :

There are three subjects which comprise three sections- Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry.

TYPES OF QUESTION :

Recently NTA has changed the pattern of the JEE mains exam. Now the question paper contains MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) and Numerical Value Questions in all the three-part. From 2020, numerical type questions are added which is a big change in the exam pattern by NTA.

THE NUMBER OF QUESTION & MARK :

Mathematics 30 (20 MCQs + 10 numerical value)- 25 need to answer100
Physics 30 (20 MCQs + 10 numerical value)- 25 need to answer100
Chemistry 30 (20 MCQs + 10 numerical value)- 25 need to answer100
Total 90 Questions (75 questions mandatory) 300

Every section contains 20 objective questions (MCQ) and 5 numerical value questions that means each section has 25 questions. The total questions of the three sections are 75.

NOTE: In numerical type questions, candidates have to give the answer in numerical/ integer. Candidates have to write the answer over the answer box, there will be no options to tick for the correct one, just like MCQ.

MODE OF EXAMINATION :

Online (computer-based examination).

NEGATIVE MARKING :

For MCQ, one incorrect answer will deduct one mark. And there is no negative marking for the numerical type question. No marks will be awarded for unattempted questions.

DURATION :

The total exam duration is 3 hours.

JEE mains – Paper 2 for B.Arch :

SUBJECTS :

Mathematics – Part I

Aptitude Test – Part II

Drawing Test – Part III

TYPES OF QUESTION :

Mathematics – Part I would have 20 objective questions (Multiple Choice Questions) and 5 Numerical Value Questions.

Aptitude Test – Part II would have 50 objective questions (Multiple Choice Questions).

Drawing Test – Part III would have 2 questions to test drawing aptitude.

THE NUMBER OF QUESTION & MARK :

There will be a total of 77 questions instead of 81. There would be two questions in the drawing test and it would have a total of 100 marks instead of 70. So paper II is a total of 400 maximum marks.

NEGATIVE MARKING :

For MCQ, one incorrect answer will deduct one mark. And there is no negative marking for the numerical type question. While no marks will be awarded for unattempted questions.

MODE OF EXAMINATION :

Mathematics and aptitude are online (Computer Based Examination) and the drawing test is pen and paper-based (offline).

DURATION :

The total exam duration is 3 hours.

JEE mains – Paper 3 for B.Planning :

SUBJECTS :

Mathematics – Part I

Aptitude Test – Part II

Planning Based Test – Part III

TYPES OF QUESTION :

Mathematics – Part I would have 20 objective questions (Multiple Choice Questions) and 5 Numerical Value Questions.

Aptitude Test – Part II would have 50 objective questions (Multiple Choice Questions).

Planning Based Test – Part III would have 25 objective questions (Multiple Choice Questions) to test planning.

The planning test will have 25 questions of 100 marks. The B.Planning examination will be 400 maximum marks and there will be a total of 100 questions.
