MBBS Course (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) is a 5.5 years undergraduate level degree course with 4.5 years of academic study and 1 year of mandatory internship at hospitals, health centers, and health camps organized by non-profit organizations.

MBBS is one of the reputed and most popular medical degrees in India. As per the Medical Council of India, there are more than 500 colleges offering MBBS courses and the total number of seats available is 75,000+. It includes the study of anatomy, pharmacology, pathology as well as community health & medicine, pediatrics, and surgery.

Eligibility

  • The minimum Qualification Required for this course is 10+2, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • Candidate must have studied science stream with PCB or PCMB with English as a mandatory subject.
  • The minimum age of eligibility is 17 years. The upper age limit varies from college to college.
  • All the students will have to fulfill the additional eligibility conditions mentioned by the Medical Council of India (MCI) which is a regulatory authority for MBBS.

Admission Process For MBBS

In order to take admission for the MBBS course in any Government or Private colleges, candidates need to appear for NEET exams followed by a round of counselling.

First, candidates need to appear for the NEET entrance exam and qualify with a good score, so that they can rank in the merit list. Candidates need to score the required cut-off marks for MBBS Course as decided by the exam conducting authorities to appear in the counselling sessions, where they can choose their colleges based on rankings.

IMPORTANT

Till now, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi used to conduct AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam for admission in the MBBS program to all 9 AIIMS (New Delhi, Bhopal, Jodhpur, Rishikesh, Bhubaneswar, Guntur, Nagpur, Patna, and Raipur). But from this year admissions to all AIMS will be provided through the NEET exam.

MBBS Course Fees

The Average Annual Fees for the MBBS Course range between as low as ₹10,000 per year at Banaras Hindu University to as high as ₹14,00,000 at Kasturba Medical College. Generally, fees for Private colleges are higher than in Government Colleges.
