BASLP stands for Bachelor of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. It is an undergraduate medical course. Usually, science students pursue this course in order to become audiologist or Speech-Language Pathologist. BASLP graduates cannot use Dr. before their name but he/she is doing a master’s course and Ph.D. then they can use this suffix.

Duration

Bachelor of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology is a 4-year undergraduate bachelor’s degree program. In which, there is a classroom lecture including practicals in 3 years and a compulsory internship in one year. In this way, 4-year is completed for the BASLP course.

Eligibility Criteria

Science Students are eligible for BASLP Course with some other criteria discussed below-

  1. Students must pass Class 12th with PCM/PCB stream in order to pursue the BASLP course.
  2. A minimum of 50% is required for the general and reserved category gets some relaxation.
  3. Eligibility will depend upon the university’s rules and regulations that would be prescribed for the BASLP course.

Admission Process

Mostly the university takes direct admission or on the basis of merit list. Because the BASLP course is a new course and few students are aware of this program. Some of the college/university that conducts university level entrance exam. But, there is no national level entrance exam like NEET. Therefore, you need to score high marks in your class 12th standard. Let’s see some of the entrance exams.

1. MET

Manipal University conducts the Manipal Entrance Test (MET) for the admission of various undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. courses. For the BASLP course, you can give the Manipal University Online Entrance Exam (MU-OET).

2. GGSIPU Entrance Exam

Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University conducts the IPU CET entrance exam. It is a university-level entrance exam held for ug and pg courses in the field of Engineering, Medical, Dental, Law, and Management. IPU CET is conducted online every year.

  3. Lecturer: On doing postgraduation in Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology, you can work as a lecturer in any college/university.
  4. Speech Pathology Reader: This is another option for BASLP graduates.
  5. Individual Practice: On completion of the BASLP course, you can practice in audiology or speech pathology.
