What is PhD Course in India?

Duration

The duration of the Ph.D. course in India basically depends upon the candidate’s ability. Though the Ph.D. course is usually of 3 years duration, candidates have to complete in a maximum span of six years.

Eligibility Criteria

Students willing to pursue a Ph.D. course then they have to be post-graduated. Minimum 55% is required in the master’s degree. Select the field from which you want to do a Ph.D. course. You must have done a master’s degree from the same field only then you will be eligible for this course.

Eligibility criteria will vary from one organization to another. Some universities require pre-research course work or if you have done M.Phil then the only certain universities will take you for admission like- Delhi University. There are almost every university that demand for UGC NET/JRF (Junior Research Fellowship)

Fee Structure

The fee of the Ph.D. course is not fixed, there are different fields, different universities therefore fees also vary in India itself. If you qualify JRF then the government will pay your fee plus you get the extra amount as pocket money for books etc. That means clearing JRF, the candidate will not pay the fee by own. But if you are clearing the NET exam or some other exams then your fee may be a maximum of 25000 approx.

NOTE: The online form may be rejected due to deficiency in the supporting documents, not following the prescribed procedures, or any other valid reason. So, there will be another date that would be released for correction. But remember one thing that you cannot correct everything only prescribed information can be corrected.
